私は60歳になりました。自分自身の事というよりも、何か還暦を目印として記念したいと思い、CDアルバムを作りました。
今までの集大成と云うには、余りにもおこがましいことですが、60歳を前に歳若く亡くなった私の祖母や、母方の祖父母、女房の父、友人などの事を思い、感慨深い思いでアルバムを作りました。
60歳というのは長いのか短いのか…。
…たぶん、時間の事ではない「何か」を慰め、感謝を込めたい気持です。

I became 60 years old. The souvenir album was made as 60 years of mark.
I am too ridiculous in order to call it an old compilation. However, them who died before becoming 60 years old. They thought of my grandmother, a mother's parents, a wife's father, the friend, etc., and made the album from the impressive thought.
Are 60 years a long period and is it a short period?
...Probably it is not time. It is "something." I would like to comfort it and to put gratitude.

Pireとは、ガーナの木琴コギリの演奏で、
挨拶、腕ならし、喋り、などの意と解釈できるものです。

アフリカ音楽の中でも特徴ある演奏スタイルで、ふんだんに即興演奏の醍醐味にあふれています。

私が思うに、本来、トーキングドラムと同じような木琴言葉の意思伝達に使われた他に、祝詞や呪文のような、より根源的な使われ方が有ったと思います。

私はそのような言葉以前のポエジーを動かして、演奏をしています。

言葉をただ真似るのでなく、魂のポエジーエッセンスを、そのままフレーズのフォルムに演奏しているのです。

私はそこには祈りの大きな力が生ずるのを感じます。

Pire is the performance of Xylophone of the name called KOGIRI of Ghana. It greets., exercise of an arm and talks.
The performance style in which it is characteristic also in African music. It is full of the real thrill of improvisation.
I think. Originally it was used for the communication of the same Xylophone language as a talking drum, and also was used like origin mystic words.
I am the language before becoming language and am doing the performance.
Language is not simply imitated. Spiritual poesy essence is performed in the form of a phrase as it is.
I feel that the big power of a prayer arises there.
